In order to help promote the prevention of kidney disease, the Mississippi
Kidney Foundation sponsors the REAP program, a free screening to detect kidney
disease so that it can be treated before it progresses to Stage 5 which would
require dialysis or transplantation. This program will encourage all those
at risk for kidney disease to come "reap" the benefits of this free screening.
You are considered at risk if you have high blood pressure, diabetes, or a
family history of high blood pressure, diabetes or kidney disease. Those
who already have kidney disease should encourage all family members to get
tested because they are at risk.
The
Mississippi Kidney Foundation is partnering with Quest Diagnostics; tests
include a full renal panel, complete blood count and cholesterol check.
Additional test will include blood pressure, blood sugar and urinalysis.
For the date of the next REAP screening,
call the MS Kidney Foundation at 601.981.3611.
